New Ownership Group takes over the Rays

   During the second round of the MSBL Free Agent / Rookie Draft the Tampa Bay Rays were acquired by a sports investment group from Central Maine. The Wesserunsett Group specialize in Fantasy Sports Franchise ownership, and Developement. Baseball Teams under the groups ownership umbrella include the East Madison Marlins, of the Greater Durham Memorial Athletic League, The Lewiston Mainiacs, of the Joe Morgan Memorial League (a part of the mlbradiofans listener leagues), The Centre Maine Nordiques, of League 14 of the Fantasy Baseball Mafia Keeper League System, & the New York Yankees of the World Series Baseball League. The group also owns the Edmonton Freeze of Central Maine, of the NHA simulation hockey league, and is the principal owner of the Centre Maine Nordiques, of the Quest for the Icy Grail Dynasty Fantasy Hockey League.

4/22 Tampa Bay Rays sign Sean Henn (P), Mark Lowe (P), and Alberto Gonzalez (SS) to minor league contracts.

4/20 Tampa Bay Rays trade Ramon Hernandez (C) and Chris Ray(P) to the Florida Marlins for Ronny Paulino (C). Recall Brian Bruney from AAA.

4/13 Tampa Bay Rays sign Lance Cormier to a major league deal, and assign Brian Bruney to AAA Durham.

3/26 Tampa Bay Rays trade Dave Roberts(OF) to the Texas Rangers for Chris Ray(P).

2/15 Tampa Bay Rays trade Randy Winn(OF) to the Texas Rangers for Casey Blake (3B).
